Approach

Understanding what repeats, and why.

Psychodynamic therapy starts from the idea that a lot of what troubles us in the present has roots that go back further than we usually give them credit for — in early relationships, old patterns, things that were never quite resolved. We tend to repeat what we haven't yet understood.

My work isn't about quick fixes or techniques for managing symptoms, though relief often does come. It's slower and more curious than that: paying attention to what comes up, noticing what gets avoided, and looking closely at the groups you belong to — family, friendships, work, wherever you've learned how to be with other people — and how those dynamics have shaped who you are.
